This section contains the measurement procedures applying basic functions
of this instrument.

Though only some of them arc introduced, we assure you that a variety
of
specific mea
sur
ement can also be performed based on the said functions.
As the measurement applications set out herein are the important and
essential particulars, it is desirable for you to
mak
e yourself familiar
with those basic operating proc

es while you use the oscilloscope.

Amp
litude Measurem
ent
The latest trigger sweep oscilloscope has two maj
or
functions.
The first of these is to measure the
amp
litude.
It
is practicable to perform all the measurement with the oscilloscope
r
angin
g from the simple waveforms to the complex ones.
Th
e oscilloscope in general has two different voltage measurements,
namely peak-to-peak
(1'-1') measurement
and
ins
tantan
eous peak-to-peak
(1'-1') measurement.
Instantaneous voltage measurement is to measure the voltage
of
each
point on the waveform from a ground reference.
In order for you to p
erf
orm the aforementioned
measur
ement
s exactly,
make sure that the VARIABLE controls are fully t
urned
clockwise.

of
the oscilloscope in the same

2. Adjust the TIME/D IV switch
[221in such a manner as to form a
waveform
of
as many as two
or
three cycles and the VOLTS/OIV switch
shall he so adjusted as to ma ke the wavef

be on the CRT screen
display.
3. Adjust
the Vertical POSITION controls 1
171
and [IXI properly and
make
the end of the waveform align with the horizontal grariculc
line
of
the CRT screen display. (See Fig. 2-7).
4. Adjust the Horizontal POSITION control 1261 and make the end of the
wavef
or
m be on the central vertical line
of
the CRT screen display.
(This line is graduated in 0.2 scale divisions) .
