2-2-1. Connection of mea

There are three differ
ent
methods f
or
observing sig
na
ls by
mean
s
of
the
oscilloscope as follows :
I. Method using lead wire
2. Met
hod
using coaxial
cable
3. Method u

for oscilloscope
I.
Meth
od using lead wire
Thi
s method is the simple o
ne
but it can only be used in the event
that
the signal level you i
nte
nd
to measure is eit
her
a
high
level
signal
or
a low impe
da
nce circuit (such as
TTL
circ
uit).
At this
time, ground wires s
ha
ll be
connec
ted between the
ground
ing terminal
of oscilloscope
and
the grounding surface of objects to be measured.
However, in case t
hat
the wire picks up hum and noise
beca
use the
wire is
not
shielded
,
the
meas
urement
may
often be difficult whe n
mea suring low level signals. As it is
hard
to have the wire
connected to
the
connector
of oscilloscope, using a b
ind

r
for
BNC
is desirable.
2.
Meth

coaxial cable
Thi
s method is the m
ost
prev
ailin
g
one
which
is widely used
when
an
output c
onnect
or is
attached
to the mea
sur
eing
object
As
the
shield coating of coaxial cable prevents
hum
and
noise, accurate
measureme nt can be performed.
Since the coaxi
al
cable are usually fitted with
BNC
connectors
on
each
end and there are
man
y varieties
of
types by
their
purposes
, it
just would be advisable to usc a suitable
one
as
needed
.

be used, a
nd
the coaxial cables should also be
matched
with the
terminator in terms
of
impedance. Even
when

shou
